UPPER LAKE — Capping a strong regular season in impressive fashion, the Upper Lake Cougars scored eight times in the first half en route to an 11-0 victory over Roseland Collegiate Prep in the North Central League II and regular-season finale for both of these varsity girls soccer teams Friday night in Upper Lake.

Senior forward Karlee Zimmerschied scored three goals in the first half, the third goal the 100th of her career. Lexy Wurm and Kali Minnis added two goals apiece while Maddy Young had three assists for Upper Lake.

The Cougars finish 8-1-1 in league, good for second place behind undefeated Credo (9-0-1), and 16-3-2 overall. They will advance to the North Coast Section Division 3 playoffs next Wednesday, most likely as the No. 1 seed. Credo competes in Division 1.

Are they ready for the postseason?

"I sure hope so," Upper Lake head coach Daniella Santana said.

The Cougars allowed no shots on goal against RCP while scoring at will against the Grizzlies' defense in the first half. Zimmerschied scored her milestone 100th goal 16 minutes into the first half, giving her a hat trick on the night.

Seven different Cougars scored. Besides Zimmerschied, Wurm and Minnis, Ashley Sprague, Ashlyn Rhodes, Tatum Salas and Atlantis Jones all had goals. Minnis also had two assists.

The North Coast Section Division 3 field will be released Sunday afternoon. First-round games are Wednesday followed by the quarterfinals Nov. 5-6.
