Daily writing prompt
What do you enjoy most about writing?
What a really good prompt for this Sunday morning, and yes, the pet sitting continues for another couple of days. But, back to the writing bit.
The most superficial reason of the reasons why I enjoy writing/blogging, is writing forms an integral part of my morning ritual. I tend to be very step by step: start with this; followed by this and then followed by this once I roll out of the sack in the morning. Get up early; make coffee; sit in chair; open computer; read news for a bit; open WordPress and start typing.
I've written about my early morning time before, emphasizing that the few hours immediately after I get up are "my time." My personal time to just - sit and think. As such, without writing, simply my morning would be screwed. End of story.
My writing style and content has certainly evolved since 2016 when this all started on somewhat of a whim, if the truth be known. I spent a lot of those years writing across a board spectrum of mental and emotional wellness issues. In addition, many, many posts have been dedicated to expanding the self-defined emotional and "comfort zone" boundaries we have created or allowed to be created around us.
All of this, doesn't really answer the question, "What do you enjoy most and writing?"
I do enjoy the challenge of writing as a whole and the creativity that surrounds all of the writing process. Sitting at the computer and being basically challenged to write something worth reading(hopefully) on a topic or subject line you have little to no interest in, or know very little about.
One element that does come out or happen from time to time in my writing are statements; questions or maybe summaries that I hope encourages the reader or leads the reader to think "Well, that's a different look or slant on things." I'm no media guru or anything close to that. Nor I'm I a social media guru or expert. But, we do live in an era when truth can be hard to discern. What is false or simply a complete lie is made out to be truth. And what is true is made out to look like complete and utter nonsense.
Another element as to why I enjoy writing(enjoy may not be the correct word here), is during the past it has provide a cathartic outlet to pour onto a "page," how I was coping or doing in periods that weren't as positive and bright as they should have been in my mental and emotional side of life.
But, overall and like any creative endeavour or pursuit, is that writing ends up being just plain fun and enjoyable. It's neat to sit and type for an hour or so, and look - "Hey - that's pretty good." Much like starting to put paint on a blank canvas, starting to put words on a blank page can seem daunting at first. But, as we move along through the process, something good starts to come into existence.
It may change and evolve as it moves along; and there may be starts and stops - but at some point along the way we will step back and go, "I think that's it."
Ultimately, we end up creating something that moves the universe or makes the universe a better and more fulfilled place through our efforts. Five hundred words in a blog piece or an 8x10 acrylic landscape - the world is slightly better than is was a couple of hours before.
