LEONARDTOWN, MD — In a recent meeting held on August 14, 2024, the St. Mary's County Board of Education finalized several key administrative appointments and transfers. Superintendent Dr. J. Scott Smith presided over the session, which saw new roles assigned within the Department of Special Education and the Department of Operations.
Anna Mudd Morris was appointed as the Supervisor of Special Education, a role that demands year-round commitment. Ms. Mudd Morris, previously an Individualized Education Program (IEP) Facilitator at Leonardtown Middle School, holds a Master's Degree from the University of South Carolina and a Bachelor's Degree from Indiana University. Her appointment will take effect on August 15, 2024.
In the Department of Operations, Kyle Kebaugh was named the new Operations Coordinator. Also a year-round position, Mr. Kebaugh brings his experience as an Operations Manager for St. Mary's County Government to the board. He has a Master's Degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor's Degree from Shepherd University. His role will commence on August 26, 2024.
Another significant change involves Andi Owens, who will transition from her current position as Instructional Compliance Coordinator in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction to Acting Comprehensive Coordinated Early Intervening Services Coordinator in the Department of Special Education. This position is also supported by grant funding. Ms. Owens' transfer is effective immediately, aligning with the board's strategy to enhance administrative support within the special education framework.
These changes reflect the board's ongoing efforts to refine its educational and operational leadership to better serve the community's needs.
