Let me first confirm - I am not a pet sitter in that my job is that of pet sitting.
I'm sure(in fact I know) there are folks whose job it is to pet sit for others. Whether in their own home are staying at the home of the pet owners, pet sitting is a real job. Kind of cool actually.
Nevertheless, I'm in Halifax for the next five days, pet sitting for our daughter.
Our daughter and her partner(Andrew) are back in Ontario for a celebration of life get together for Andrews grandmother.
Originally, both Lynn and I were supposed to undertake this deed together. Both with the arrival of Riley(our dog) and finding out that Riley doesn't do well with other dogs, including our daughter's dog, I'm here solo.
She also has two cats as well. Both of them are pretty sufficient - given their cats...so much effort with them.
The dog on the other hand - is sort of like a princess. Husky's tend to be vocal and emotional prima donnas. Her dog howls like it is being tortured when you first get it into the car if the inside of the car is a little warm. Geez its summer - of course it will be warm. But, once the air conditioning cools the car down a bit - the howling stops.
It won't go to the bathroom in the backyard - hence I was out at 9:30pm last night hoofing it in the dark through half of Halifax(not really); after far too many ales and getting the dog finally to pee 15 feet from the backdoor on the way back home.
To do the whole feeding routine, one needs an advanced degree in animal science and nutrition.
And that's just the start of it. this dog is a drama queen to the max.
But, tomorrow(Saturday) I booked her into doggy daycare which she loves. She runs and plays basically all day long(a husky LOVES to run) and comes home exhausted. Daycare was my daughters suggestion.
Nevertheless, tonight and every night I'm here at 9:30pm I'll be out with the dog, trying to get her to go to the bathroom before bed.
--as always with love--
