I have very much neglected this blog this summer- I have changed jobs and we have dedicated our summer to a massive home edit (more to come about that later) and making memories. We have had a busy summer and it's not over yet. Next on the agenda are church camp for me and our youngest daughter, and a trip to Nashville for dance. Stay tuned- I'm going to share a summer recap at the end of the season.
You may be wondering about the title of this post. Earlier this weekend, our air conditioning went out. If you don't know, we live in North Carolina, where the temperatures have bordered on 100 degrees fahrenheit.
This morning, we got up to go to church. We overslept and missed Sunday School. Then, we went out to get in the car and leave for church, and our car wouldn't start. When I tell you I was frustrated, I was frustrated. I wish I could tell you I had a great attitude about it all and I didn't get mad, but that would be lying.
I'm over here trying to have a better attitude. I've got my worship music playing and in a few minutes, I will watch our church service online, since I can't be there in person. It's not the same, but it's better than nothing.
The verse in my devotional this morning was James 3:2- "For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, also able to bridle his own body." We are more than aware that we are not perfect men and women- God is aware of this, because He made us. We will always have bad days, and sometimes we will have days when everything feels like it's falling apart. How we handle it is everything.
Underneath that verse, I am to write a reflection or a response. This morning, before I went out to discover a non-working vehicle, I wrote, "Help me not to stumble- help me to control my tongue and my attitude."
I can't help but to have a sense of humor about that- because the events of this day are surely making me work on my tongue and my attitude. I'm determined to salvage this day, so I'm going to finish my housework and listen to praise music while I work. I'm not going to let the bad forces win. Thanks for listening. May we all have a fantastic and positive week.
