St. Mary's Ryken (SMR) has announced the appointment of Mr. Jason DeLucco as the new Dean of Academics for the 2024-2025 school year. DeLucco, who previously served as the Dean of Faculty and Student Development, brings a wealth of experience and dedication to his new role.
DeLucco's journey at SMR has been marked by significant contributions to the school's academic programs. He has been instrumental in introducing and stewarding the first years of three new Advanced Placement (AP) courses, reflecting his commitment to academic excellence and innovation. In addition to his responsibilities in faculty and student development, DeLucco has served as the Education Technology Systems Administrator, where he supported the implementation and use of Veracross, a critical platform for students and faculty.
Outside of his work at SMR, DeLucco is an adjunct professor at St. Mary's College of Maryland, where he shares his expertise with college students. His involvement with the College Board as a trainer for Advanced Placement instruction and test scoring further underscores his dedication to education. DeLucco's academic background includes a degree in Political Science and Education from the University of Delaware and a master's degree in Leadership in Teaching, Administration, and Supervision from Notre Dame University of Maryland.
DeLucco is not only a distinguished professional but also a proud alumnus of St. Mary's Ryken, graduating in the class of 1998. His connection to the school extends to his family as well; his wife, Shelley, is a member of the class of 1994, and they have three sons, Jack ('23), Sawyer ('26), and Adam.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, DeLucco stated, "I am looking forward to continuing to support the students, parents, and faculty in this new role. I look forward to supporting SMR's strong tradition of providing students with academic challenges in a nurturing environment."
