So. Yeah. Bad issue for me this year. I usually spray round up outside, in the play yard area. I have to hit it about three times a season. Last year I had issues with my sprayers and I only got the area sprayed once. Now, with my late start this spring (because of illness) and my first trip to Colorado. I have a mess out there. I am also about to leave on a four day tour, with my kids and mom, of colleges we can reasonably drive to.) This is such a big mess that: if I didn't know what I was doing, it would seem insurmountable.
I know how to fix this, but I also know that this is going to be a full season of spray schedules, raking, shoveling and weedeating to reclaim the gravel area. I did not lay this gravel. It came with the house and is why I do not recommend putting gravel anywhere you don't want weeds. I also suggest not having a spouse become disabled so that you now have to do what they used to do. I haven't figured that one out yet. Might be time to enlist my kids
All gravel does is: gather weed seeds and make it impossible to hoe the weeds out. When you have a disaster area like this, I recommend weed eating first. Unfortunately, I am busy and my husband can't do it because of his disability. I may have to enlist my two hunky boys to help with this. It's a good experience to learn how to take care of a yard, so I'm looking forward to teaching them.
Meet you out in the garden for the never ending weeding and those years when the weeds seem to win.
