Daily writing prompt
What's the story behind your nickname?
Wish I could write some grandiose post about a cute nickname I've garnered since my youth. About how it came about one summer evening while out with schoolmates at the local soda fountain.
Soda fountain? When would this be taking place - 1953? You weren't even born yet. But, if I did manage to write such a literary masterpiece, unfortunately, it would be a total and massive work of fiction. A big old pile of dung so to speak.
Not to put too big a spin on things - I have no nickname that I can think of. Not even a cute cuddly nickname that Lynn throws out on occasion.
Having said that, not sure if not having a nickname or even if you do have a macho nickname - like "Macho or Biff" - is a good thing or a bad thing. At first glance, nicknames like "Macho or Biff" aren't cutting it for me. Based on that I would say nicknames - are not a good thing. "Precious" isn't cutting it either. Unless you're some magical ring that keeps the balance between good and evil in check.
Nicknames should be personal in nature in that they relate directly and intimately to that person. For example, if you happened to be out with college friends forty years ago and puked all over yourself after a rather extensive "partying session." Then a nickname like "Biff" or "Pukey" is entirely appropriate. Even forty years later.
Sorry to say, no nickname. On the other hand, maybe today I'll do something really dumb; get saddled with a nickname that will forever live in the annals of nicknamedom. If that happens, I'll perhaps come back with an update.
But, don't bet on it.
