The Davis Musical Theatre Company's Young Performers' Theatre production of "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" is scheduled to open July 19.
Playing at the Jean Henderson Performing Arts Center in Davis, the classic Mark Twain story jumps off the pages and comes to life in this musical adaptation of one of America's most popular tales.
"Set in 1840 Missouri, it is the tale of young Tom Sawyer and the never-ending mischief of which he so often finds himself a part of; whether it's matching wits with Aunt Polly, tricking his friends into whitewashing a fence for him or narrowly escaping the clutches of a murderous villain," said a press release from DMTC. "Along with best friend, Huckleberry Finn, and love interest Becky Thatcher, the greatest Tom Sawyer exploits are plucked from the book and plopped on the stage."
Tom Sawyer will be played by Harper Kidd, Huckleberry Finn by Patrick Cobb and Becky Thatcher by Emberley Entao.
"The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" plays from July 19 through July 28 on Fridays at 7 p.m., Saturdays at 2 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $8 for all ages. They can be purchased online at https://dmtc.org or by calling (530) 756-3682.

She confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother.
