Daily writing prompt
Describe your most memorable vacation.
A prompt coming at the most opportune time it seems, as we were just going over vacation plans for the next two months yet once again yesterday.
One thing that I firmly believe and have touted on about from time to time, is that it isn't necessarily the location(although a relevant factor in many cases) it is the memories that the vacation creates and then stays with us over the following years and decades.
Often I hear about or read about the memories created from what might be considered somewhat nondescript family vacations. Not nondescript from the perspective of being negative, but vacations that families just simply took. Nothing major(although it could be), just well, plain old "family vacations." And often it could have been, but not necessarily, to the same location each year. Vacations like the same cottage resort, or camping.
Ultimately I guess it really doesn't matter.
Often people say something along the lines of "It was always our family and our cousins - we went to the same campground each year" or "Our family always did a road trip each summer" ... things along these lines. And the memories folks go on about are always are always positive. And always people-related.
For Lynn and myself, our memories(at least from where I sit) where created from a couple of trips that come to mind. First was our trip to Prince Edward Island back in 2017. Created wonderful memories, but it lit a spark that ignited a desire to move to the east coast of Canada. And now we're now living in Nova Scotia.
The second one would be of many camping trips to Algonquin Park and those trips were the weather and bad weather played a mjor role. If only for a few minutes(like a torrential rain/wind storm). Severe weather for a short instance and the sun and warmth for the rest of the time.
Sometime the memories or the specific memory fade over time, but one can always recall that, "You know what? Those were great times. We had so much fun"
--as always with love--
