May was...a LONG time ago, but June is fresh in my brain. From the first weekend in May to the last weekend in June, I raced 5 weekends, was a race director for one weekend, and had 3 weekends of relaxation, training, and catching up on all of the things that I didn't get to focus on during the race weekends.
racing highlights:
Podium finish at the Iowa Games Triathlon
These ladies, this team...so much love for everyone racing at Clear Lake Triathlon!
When you are on the podium at Pigman Triathlon, you kiss the pig!
I gave myself every chance I could at Ironman 70.3 Des Moines. I stayed connected mentally, engaged physically, dug into the discomfort + embraced it, stayed fueled + hydrated, smiled throughout, encouraged others, and had a super solid race that I am so proud of!
training highlights:
April showers bring May flowers.
"The road to our dreams has many detours." ~Kurt Warner
A wise woman once said, "Fuck it! I'm getting a bike!" And she lived happily ever after. ⚡️
This is a privilege that makes my heart sing out loud ⚡️
Consistently showing up to make gains in the water.
Happy global running day!! Running has taken me so many places and has fortified my life in so many ways. #grateful
After racing four weekends in a row (sprint tri, Oly tri, Oly tri, 70.3), I took a mid season break to give my body what it needed…rest. I did only what I felt like doing and not forcing anything. There were times when I had the thought that I "should" be doing a workout, but asked myself if I really felt like it. Many times the answer was no, so I gave myself grace + the freedom to do what felt right and listened to that instead of the "shoulds". Today I dove back in the water and it felt AMAZING!! I'm ready to buckle down and dial things in for my big, bold goal later this year!! #LFG ⚡️
Jersey and I got to run with Becca as we showed her campus and some of our favorite trails. She also got to experience summer humidity in Iowa, which is very different than being way above the tree line in CO. Thank you for the miles, sweat, smiles, conversation, and being such a light in this world! 🤍
So grateful to be swimming in the outdoor 50 m pool
Moxie and I had our longest date yet! We took the time to stop and smell the flowers, because rural Iowa has many other smells that are not nearly as refreshing. 😜 Be grateful this pic isn't scratch and sniff! 🐮 🐷 🦃 Even with the rural Iowa smells, life on two wheels on the open roads is my happy place! 🤍
life highlights:
The girls LOVE to play in the water!!
Finally turning social media friend, Stephanie, into an IRL friend! 🤍
Post race hugs are the best!! 🤍
Inside Out 2 in 3D with these two 🤍
gratitude highlights:
The lilacs smell SO AMAZING!
Grateful that my body allows me to push it + grateful to get to see Damon in person for some sweaty hugs!
These beauties are right outside our kitchen window.
Year 5 of the Ames Triathlon was a huge success!! Congratulations to all of the first time finishers, the athletes who set goals + challenged themselves to achieve them, and those athletes who learned something new about themselves on the journey and/or on race day!! Thank you to the athletes, volunteers, sponsors, community, spectators, and crew for helping to turn our vision of the Ames Triathlon into a reality. We look forward to seeing you all back again next year!! 🤍
Even when the feel like is 103, she still wants snuggles and I am forever grateful for them + her!!
How was your months of May and June? What are you looking forward to in July?
