In a pre-dawn operation on July 3, 2024, law enforcement officials arrested 23-year-old Davione Syheme Mason in Lexington Park, Maryland, in connection with a recent shooting. Mason was taken into custody at a residence on Flower Drive as detectives from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office, supported by the Emergency Services Team, executed a search and seizure warrant.
The arrest follows an investigation into a shooting that occurred on June 26, 2024, in the same neighborhood. Although the gunfire did not result in any injuries, it caused property damage, including a bullet hole discovered in a nearby home. Investigators also found several shell casings at the scene on Columbus Drive, leading them to identify Mason as a suspect.
Mason faces multiple charges, including possession of a handgun, possession of a loaded handgun, and reckless endangerment. Following his arrest, he was transported to the Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown, where he awaits a bond hearing.
The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office has not released further details about the motive or circumstances surrounding the shooting but emphasized their commitment to ensuring the safety of the community through diligent investigative work.
