I have never been to the hot springs in Colorado. I didn't know much about them. My best friend and her partner took my mom and I out to the springs in Moffat, Colorado. We skipped all of the lower temperature pools and got into the hottest one they had.
Apparently, we were brave because: most people only came and went from that pool. It was set at 107°F. It started out a little cooler and then they opened the hot spring up a little to raise the temperature. It felt incredible.
Yurts
Gorgeous mountains
Teepees
It was like the best hot bath you could have. The minerals in the water include lithium, which makes your whole body relax. It never cooled off like one you could take at home and as I cycled in and out of the pool, sitting on the side (with my feet in the pool the whole time. Don't do that. Two hours straight in that pool messed all of our feet up. If you are too hot: get all the way out. I think we sort of did a sous vide to our feet!)
Incredible flower baskets
Me and my mom, post soak
Anyway, got to talk to a really interesting variety of people. There were Russians there, hippie dippy guys, people who worked there, and then there were the four of us, who have known each other about twenty three years. We got to relax and catch up, talking about all kinds of things. If you go to a hot springs place: I recommend going with friends. Had I been there alone, I doubt I'd have spent as long there, and had as much fun, as I did.

The place we went is called "Joyful Journey Hot Springs". They have a package that you can get with massages and other spa related activities. You can stay there. They have yurts, teepees and individual rooms. If you drive EV they have complimentary charging spaces. The sides around the pools are plexiglass and you can watch the wind blow through the desert plants, watch butterflies flit around and look out further at the mountain range. So relaxing and beautiful! The surrounding walls also seemed to keep the mosquito population out. Everywhere else we went, there were swarms of mosquitoes. But not inside the hot springs area.
Lots of fun! Meet you out at the hot springs!
