LAKE COUNTY— This year's Independence Day falls on Thursday, with holiday events staged around the lake lasting throughout the weekend. As the holiday coincides with the summers first heat wave, both Cal Fire and Pacific Gas and Electric have issued warnings and guidelines for a safe a sane Fourth of July celebration.
On Monday the Cal Fire of Sonoma, Napa and Lake Counties issued a Red Flag Warning, warning our community of the potential fire danger this week as temperatures will rise over 110 degrees and coupled with high winds can make for a deadly fire recipe. They warn those using fireworks to proceed with caution and are "urging the public to avoid any activities that could ignite a wildfire." According to the press release it has already been a high fire year with over 20,000 burning acres put out.
