After spending 3 weeks in Spain and Portugal, it was time to take in the local sites! Luckily, we are a hop, skip and a jump away from the Rocky Mountains!
We stopped at the Barrier Lake Visitor Information Centre to pick up our Kananaskis Conservation Pass. The $15 a day goes into improving the park.
Our Trail Guide selected an easy hike, as we have a variety of different levels. The Blackshale Suspension Bridge fit the bill.
Unfortunately before we could get started, a hiker told us that there were bears in the area crashing through the forest. With that news, we lost half our group. we were accompanied by a family with three children, who made enough noise for all of us!
The suspension bridge is opened in the spring, as the weight of the snow is too heavy in the winter.
We stopped into Woody's Pub in Kananaskis Village, but for reasons unknown to us, it didn't open until 4 pm. So, off we went to the Kananaskis Golf Course! We did manage to see some wildlife along the way!
And wouldn't you know it, we managed to find a Grizzly Bear eating some berries at the side of the road!
The view from the patio is breathtaking!
The waiter was kind enough to take a group picture!
All in all, it was a fun day to hang out and commune with wildlife!
