For me Spring and Summer have always been the times of year that I feel the most creative. A lot of it has to do with the fact that nature is showing us all her beautiful creations at at this time. The sun is shining, the flowers are in full bloom, the birds are singing! I find that even just sitting in my yard after work inspires me to somehow part take in the creative process.
One creative and mindful activity that I love to do are nature based mandalas. I make these out of whatever I feel called to in my surroundings. For example, these two that I've recently made I used flowers from the Rhododendron bushes that just bloomed along with their leaves, as well as some ferns. I try to only take as much as I will use and always leave the buds that haven't had a chance to bloom yet.
This activity is also a reminder that being creative doesn't always need to result in a perfect final product and sometimes it's just fun to make things without any plans or expectations. They won't last forever but they do bring joy in the moment.
Nature mandalas can be made anywhere in nature, big or small! It's so fun to connect with the earth while also making something beautiful! Another variation would be if you are at the beach, you could collect seashells and driftwood! These mandalas can be made out of ANYTHING you find outside, so get creative and see what beautiful things are growing around you. The ideas are endless and it is truly a fun activity that I encourage everyone to try this summer!
