Hello! It's me, Sephora!! Serving you a nice summer vibe for a shop/apartment design!
For this illustration, I liked those buildings with small businesses on the bottom and living spaces on the top! This building will be a part of my webcomic (though I hope to print it when finished), called "The Botanist Bazaar"! There will be a lot of scenes taking place in/around this shop so it needed a concrete design.
I wanted the shop to have an overgrown and slightly abandoned feel since it takes place in what I call the post-post apocalypse. A time after the original humans were wiped out and different creatures rapidly evolved into a humanoid version of themselves.
The people I design are based on creatures that exist in the ocean since I've always been fascinated by the ocean and its interesting/scary animals. I've already begun two designs, one of which is based on the Portuguese Man Of War, a type of jellyfish with long tendrils that can still sting someone after it dies.
I named her Phyllipa which is loosely based on their scientific name (Physalia physalis) and she's the Mayor of the town the characters live in. Her design isn't fully thought out yet because right now she doesn't feel like a Mayor with the generic clothes I gave her.
The other character is based on yellow cuttlefish, which I find cute and I like their yellow-orange-y color! I named him Caspian, which is just an ocean-themed name I liked. He is one of the main characters and runs the shop I designed.
I have a lot of goals this summer like finishing paintings and drawings but a big goal of mine is to finish writing my comic! I just want to jump right in and draw all of my ideas but it'll be overwhelming without a concrete plan, so I must be patient!
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my designs and ramblings about "The Botanist Bazaar", this comic idea has been with me for years and I'm glad I seem to be finally doing something about it!
I hope you all have a great day, see you next time, probably with some more rambling!!
Sephora, Out! ❤
