DAHLGREN, Va. – The Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) has announced extended range testing from Saturday, June 22 through Friday, June 28, outside of normal operating hours. The testing aims to evaluate new weapons systems and improve existing ones, crucial for maintaining the Navy's operational readiness.
On June 22-23, testing will typically occur from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. From June 24 at 6 a.m. to June 28 at 3 p.m., testing will be continuous. This schedule ensures a thorough assessment of the systems under various conditions.
Residents in communities surrounding the Naval Surface Facility (NSF) Dahlgren may experience noise from the testing. Additionally, access to NSF Dahlgren pier, Upper Machodoc Creek, and the Potomac River Middle Danger Zone may be occasionally restricted. These areas fall under the guidelines described in 33 CFR 334.230, ensuring safety during the testing period.
NSWCDD's range testing is part of ongoing efforts to support the Navy's mission to develop and field advanced weaponry. These tests are critical for validating the performance and reliability of new technologies before they are deployed in real-world scenarios.
