English poet Robert Southey wrote that curses, like chickens, always come home to roost.
Also coming home to roost recently were the 34 felony charges against Donald Trump in a New York court. Trump was found guilty of all 34. He is, indeed, a man of conviction.
The jury found the Orange Gasbag guilty on all counts of falsifying business records to cover up hush-money payments to two women, the idea being to buy their silence about dalliances with Trump, seeing as how he was running for president and didn't want the public to know.
Newly-convicted felon Trump is scheduled to be sentenced on July 11, four days before the Republican National Convention, at which the Republicans will nominate him for president again.
It is surreal — Kafkaesque — that so many people admire and support this toxic buffoon, this convicted criminal. No one who stands with Trump is of sound mind. MAGAs desperately need psychiatric help.
But I digress. After his conviction last week, Trump stepped in front of the cameras and delivered a typical diatribe of stream-of-consciousness lies:
-----
This was a disgrace. This was a rigged trial by a conflicted judge who was corrupt as a rigged trial, a disgrace. They wouldn't give us a venue change. We were at 5 percent or 6 percent in this district, in this area. This was a rigged, disgraceful trial.
The real verdict is going to be November 5th by the people. And they know what happened here, and everybody knows what happened here. You have a Soros-backed DA and the whole thing. We didn't do anything wrong. I'm a very innocent man.
And it's OK, I'm fighting for our country, I'm fighting for our Constitution. Our whole country is being rigged right now. This was done by the Biden administration in order to vote to wound or hurt an opponent, a political opponent. And I think it's just a disgrace.
And we'll keep fighting. We'll fight till the end and we'll win. Because our country's gone to hell. We don't have the same country anymore. We have a divided mess. We're a nation in decline, serious decline.
Millions and millions of people pouring into our country right now from prisons and from mental institutions, terrorists. And they're taking over our country. We have a country that's in big trouble.
But this was a rigged decision right from day one with a conflicted judge who should have never been allowed to try this case, never. And we will fight for our Constitution. This is long from over.
Thank you very much.

Trump is a resident of Florida, which restricts the voting rights of convicted felons. Specifically, a convicted felon in Florida cannot vote until the sentence is completed.
However, when the felony was committed in another state, Florida defers to that state's laws. In Trump's case, New York law takes away his right to vote only if he is incarcerated. So, if convicted felon Trump isn't sent to prison by New York, he can vote for himself next November.
Here's a thought: maybe the 19 Crimes Winery will feature Trump on a label soon.
What variety of wine? A full-bodied white, of course.
