Your Congressman does not work for you
Congressperson Mike Thompson just posted a speech he made to Congress on his social media accounts in which he begins by saying that he supports Americans' right to protest, but then goes on to attack those rights, generalizing protests against ongoing violence by Israel as "enhanced antisemitism" and "religious bigotry".
This is an attack on our right to protest. I am a Jew, and I am one of those people protesting and chanting "From the river to the sea" (which seems to be fine when Israelis say it but somehow bigotry when others say it). I've heard of zero incidents of such harassment in our district and there's nothing bigoted about not wanting people to be hurt. Quite the contrary! Protesting donations, or the involvement of individuals in genocidal behavior IS NOT BIGOTRY OR HARASSMENT. Politicians using it as such to silence dissent of a foreign nation is unacceptable, and can be directly linked to donations from AIPAC-linked groups like JStreet PAC. Your Congressperson does not work for you, he works for corporations, including PACs like JStreet, AGAINST you.
This opinion is my own and has nothing to do with Napa Valley College, its Board or its president.

Father's Day is not about killing dads
Father's Day is about celebrating dads—not killing them. In many fish species, the father provides all of their babies' parental care. So fishing isn't just cruel and pointless, it's also a stain on paternal values.
Father's Day and fishing go together like Valentine's Day and divorce. You wouldn't impale your dad with a sharp hook. Fish fathers feel pain in a similar way to humans. And killing and eating fish is bad for your father, too! Studies show that eating just a single fish pulled from U.S. lakes or rivers could be equal to drinking water tainted with "forever chemicals" for a month. Toxic chemicals found in the flesh of fish include mercury, lead, and polychlorinated biphenyls. If you really care about your dad's health and happiness, get him a six-pack of beer, instead.
If you're looking for quality time with dad, take him magnet fishing, an increasingly popular activity using magnets to retrieve metallic objects—like coins and other valuable items. Or go "trash fishing," a fish-friendly hobby that involves "fishing" for litter out of the water. Fathers want to leave their children with a clean, thriving planet. Or just buy him a tie and some aftershave and give him the rest of the day off. He'll appreciate the quality time.
Every animal is someone. Happy Father's Day.
