The 35th Annual Ukiah Golf Classic was held on a beautiful Monday in April with 13 teams participating from Eureka to Mission San Jose.
This year's competition was won by first time attendee, Mission San Jose, with a score of 373, one of the best scores shot in our tournament in many years. The Windsor "A" team finished second at 381, followed by Cardinal Newman's "A" team at 389. Dougherty Valley finished fourth at 399, Ukiah's "A" team at 418, Livermore 428, Maria Carrillo 431, Eureka 435, Analy 469, Healdsburg 476, Windsor "B" team 493, Ukiah "B" team 500, and Cardinal Newman's "B" team was incomplete.
78 high school golfers competed, with the low score of the day a tie between Windsor's Jake Latz and Nick Savano with very fine 70's. Winston Pan, MSJ, shot 72; Aditya Sui, MSJ, and Kallum Thurston, Ukiah, shot 73; Matthew Almajano, MSJ, shot 74; Talon Vigil, Eureka, 75, and Ryan Bello, Cardinal Newman, 75.
The efforts of many great volunteers helped to make this tournament a successful event. They will be recognized in a subsequent Letter to the Editor.
