UPPER MARLBORO, Md. – The Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit has identified and charged a second suspect in connection with a fatal shooting that took place at a car meet on May 19. The suspect, 21-year-old Caimon Harrell of Woodbridge, Virginia, is charged with the murder of 26-year-old John Phipps of Waldorf. Crucial information provided by the community and Prince George's County Crime Solvers played a significant role in advancing the investigation.

The incident occurred around 1:45 a.m. in the parking lot of a shopping center located in the 6400 block of Marlboro Pike. Officers responding to the scene found Phipps inside a vehicle, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival. Another man was also shot during the incident, though his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

This morning, officers from the Prince William County Police Department apprehended Harrell at his home. He faces multiple charges including first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree attempted murder, and related offenses. Harrell remains in custody in Prince William County and is awaiting extradition to Prince George's County.
