I already meditated for more than 500 minutes. To be honest, many people in the past have suggested that I should take it up. And I did try a few times, but it always didn't feel like it suited me. I knew that it might have great benefits, but the struggle of getting started was greater. That is until I saw this video by Sabrina from the channel Answer In Progress. I recognized so much of myself in her story that I suddenly was convinced that I really should give meditation a try. After the 20 minute video I knew I should implement all her strategies and see if it would indeed app;ly to me too. However, I started with finding an app that I would like to use to meditate with. I didn't want to pay for something just to find out if it will last. I came across an app called Medito, and it has been a match ever since. It's completely free, which I love, but I might donate something in the future to support the makers. After a few days I sporadically started to plan out my day, just like Sabrina suggested. I slowly built that out to scheduling every day that I'm not at work. I usually make my plans the evening before, but might change them up during the day if I feel the need. For things like blog writing and prep work for my job as a teacher I only schedule 45 minutes at a time. I usually can stay focussed for that long. And by not having to finish my work all in one go, makes it so much easier for me to start. Because the size of a project can sometimes be so daunting that I struggle to start. Besides that I do feel way more content at the end of the day. I also am really happy that I'm learning to be more mindful through my meditation. It's not an easy thing to learn. Luckily there are some days it really makes me feel good about myself. Like the day that I was 9 days in on my meditation journey. The quote from my journals says it all. Before I knew it, I was meditating, completely unaccompanied. I heard the sea and felt the strong wind blowing sand against me.
