Sunday Smiles: Greenhouses are exercises in patience
If you follow us on social media, you may know that we lost our polytunnel to a wind storm back in the winter. We ended up ordering a metal and polycarbonate greenhouse kit from Amazon. Order from my Amazon store I built a wood 4x4 b…
I built a wood 4x4 base to secure the greenhouse, but when I began to assemble it, I discovered fairly quickly that the directions were confusing.
There weren't any words and the assembly order didn't make much sense.
We kept building the base and sides of the greenhouse, only to have the sides keep collapsing.
I was very frustrated and close to giving up, but my mom and stepdad came over. It took all six of us, (my mom and stepdad, my husband and me, and both our children), to get the front and back assembled, and the sides braced, but we did it.
Once we figured out this piece of the puzzle, assembly went fairly quickly.
Then, once I got all of the panels in, we got a big wind storm and it blew the panels out.
I learned online that you can prevent your panels from blowing out by caulking them vertically, and taping them horizontally with Gorilla tape.
So far, things are going well. I only have to finish the floor and our greenhouse will be complete.
It turned out to be an exercise in patience, but it did turn out to be a cute little greenhouse. I cannot wait to start using it.
So many things are exercises in patience. I felt like giving up sooooo many times while building this greenhouse, but once we figured out how to build it, we finished the greenhouse. Even though it was a pain, it was worth it.
Sometimes, when we want to give up, if we stay the course, we will find that the end result was worth all the headaches.
