Daily writing prompt
What book could you read over and over again?
In light of yesterday's prompt and post "Who Would I Be", the book(s) that I could and often do read over and over again are the short story entries that make up the canon of the Arthur Conan Doyle character "Sherlock Holmes."
I can't explain why the continuing fascination with the character and the overall Holmes stories.
The individual "cases" are relatively short in length, so it doesn't require a large investment in time and concentration. I do find the settings and the descriptions that Conan Doyle employs in the narratives to be in many ways a character on their own, altogether separate from Holmes himself.
I was introduced to the books or adventures of Sherlock Holmes over forty years ago. With the book I got all that time ago, the binding is getting excessively worn and tattered and the odd page is wrinkled and torn as well.
But it still doesn't stop me from opening to a favourite "adventure" every so often and falling back into the mystery and foggy environs of Baker Street and 1890s London.
