37-year-old Daniel Anantharajan Williams of Temple Hills
In a significant development, detectives from the Charles County Sheriff's Office have apprehended a suspect linked to a series of burglaries targeting businesses in Waldorf, Maryland. The incidents, which unfolded between March 17 and March 20, involved four burglaries at two separate locations. The first of these incidents took place in the 2300 block of Crain Highway, while the subsequent three occurred in the 2400 block of Old Washington Road.
The break-ins came to light following the most recent burglary, where the suspect made off with several high-value items, including fireplace inserts and grills. Alert patrol officers, responding to the scene, noticed one of the stolen fireplaces positioned conspicuously near the business's perimeter fence. This crucial observation paved the way for a strategic operation that led to the suspect's capture on March 21. The individual, identified as 37-year-old Daniel Anantharajan Williams of Temple Hills, attempted to return to the scene to retrieve the items previously left behind.
Further investigation by detectives solidified Williams' connection to the other burglaries on Old Washington Road. In a search of Williams' residence, law enforcement officials recovered stolen property valued at nearly $25,000. The recovered items substantiated the charges against Williams, leading to his arrest and the pressing of multiple counts of burglary and theft scheme.
Despite the gravity of the crimes and the substantial recovery of stolen goods, Williams was released from the Charles County Detention Center on March 21. A district court commissioner granted his release on an unsecured bond of $3,000. The case continues to evolve as Detectives Furr and Tyler carry forward the investigation, piecing together the extent of the burglary operations and ensuring justice for the affected businesses.
