EASTON, MD – A man was discovered deceased in his vehicle on the morning of Monday, April 8, along Maryland Route 328, sparking an investigation by the Talbot County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division.
A deputy, while patrolling the area of Maryland Route 328 and Fox Road at around 9 a.m., noticed a dark-colored Ram truck parked on the westbound shoulder. Upon inspection, the deputy found a single occupant in the driver's seat, unresponsive. The deputy, suspecting a medical emergency, gained entry into the vehicle, where the individual was then found to be deceased.
The investigation into the incident is currently ongoing, conducted by the Talbot County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division. The scene led to a partial shutdown of Maryland Route 328 for several hours, though the road has since been reopened, and officials have assured there is no ongoing danger to the public.
Preliminary findings suggest the deceased, a 23-year-old male from Waldorf, Maryland, whose name has yet to be released pending notification of next of kin, may have taken his own life, as indicated by evidence found within the vehicle. The body has been sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.
The Talbot County Sheriff's Office was supported at the scene by the Maryland State Police Easton Barrack, the Maryland State Police Crime Scene Unit, the Maryland State Highway Administration, and the Talbot County Department of Emergency Services.
Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the case to contact the Talbot County Sheriff's Office at 410-822-1020, as the investigation remains active and further details are awaited.
