The Woodland Opera House's production of "Damn Yankees" opened Friday.
Based on the novel, "The Year the Yankees Lost the Pennant" by Douglass Wallop," "Damn Yankees" follows middle-aged baseball fanatic Joe Boyd who trades his soul to the Devil, also known as Mr. Applegate, for a chance to lead his favorite team, the Washington Senators, to victory in the pennant race against the New York Yankees.
Mr. Applegate offers Joe the chance to become "Joe Hardy," the young slugger the Senators need. Though, as he transforms the hapless Senators into a winning team, he begins to realize the true worth of the life that he's left behind.
A Broadway mega-hit and winner of seven Tony Awards, this sporty musical comedy is a true American classic.
Tickets are $30 for adults, $28 for seniors 62 and older and $15 for children 17 and under. Balcony tickets are $18 for adults and $9 for children. Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.

"Into the Woods" is set to open at the Davis Musical Theatre Company on April 26.
"An ambivalent Cinderella? A blood-thirsty Little Red Riding hood? A Prince Charming with a roving eye?," said DMTC's website. "They're all among the cockeyed characters in James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim's fractured fairy tale centered around a childless baker and his wife whose only wish is to lift the family curse and live happily ever after. Thus, what begins as a lively irreverent fantasy becomes a moving lesson about community responsibility and the stories we tell our children."
DMTC's "Into the Woods" will play through May 19. Tickets are $18 for general admission, $16 for students and seniors 55 and over and $14 each for groups of 10 or more.
