This one stood near our boat, looked down at us and yawned, even. We were intruders in its papyrus swamp. We soon left. After we had been shoed by shoebill, we saw many amazing neighbors on one trip to Uganda. Zebras that are the most intensely alive creature I have ever encountered. Warthogs plowing up the lawns at a fnacy eco-lodge. Hippos bigger than our boat in the river. Hamerkop. Created cranes. Wydah. Crocs. Elephants who looked down on us for several good reasons. Lions--there are no words. Gazelle--no ballet dancer can even approach their finesse in the air, their elegaance afoot. The monkeys stealing from our tent. Baboons--like a gang in some 1950s film noir. | | | | You can also reply to this email to leave a comment. | | | | |
