How to make your own non-toxic household cleaner
All you need are:
Make sure your spray bottle is empty and clean, then fill with 1 litre of tap water. Carefully add 60ml (around 1/4 cup) of Dr. Bronner's pure castile liquid soap and 20 drops of tea tree essential oil. Swirl gently to mix - and that's it!
You've now got a powerful multi-purpose household cleaner without any of the nasties that come with chemical-laden brands and bleaches.
Mainstream sprays can be extremely toxic to human health - even causing hormone disruption and respiratory problems, lung inflammation and asthma.
But now you have your own natural cleaning spray which actually works and is amazing at cutting through grease.
We took this little 'recipe' from Lisa Bronner's book Soap & Soul, which has lots more helpful tips for ditching the toxins and going cleaner.
Soap & Soul goes into further depth around green cleaning, family safe 'Green It Yourself' (GIY) recipes, and how cleaning is good for the soul.
Author Lisa is a green cleaning influencer and granddaughter of Emmanuel Bronner, who is the founder of Dr Bronner's - the USA's best-selling soap brand.
Her book is a great little read and reference guide if you're interested in eco-friendly, affordable, space saving and family friendly cleaning methods.
But Lisa doesn't stop at household cleaning. She also talks about sunscreen, hand sanitiser and even washing the dog!
