Last week, the USDA released the 2023 North American Potatoes report. These are numbers from the Agriculture Departments in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada reveals the 2023 North American Potato harvest data.
Potato production for the U.S. and Canada combined in 2023 is estimated at 570 million per hundredweight, up eight percent from the 2022 estimate. The U.S. potato production is estimated at 441 million hundredweight, up ten percent from the year before. Canada's potato growers harvested 129 million, up four percent from 2022.
Back in 2022, potato production for the U.S., Canada, and Mexico combined was 567 million hundredweight, down two percent from the 2021 estimate. U.S. potato production is estimated at 402 million hundredweight in 2022, down three percent from the year before. Canada's potato growers harvested 124 million hundredweight during 2022, up two percent from 2021, while Mexico harvested 41.4 million hundredweight during 2022, down four percent from the previous year.
