The loose abstract acrylic was based on a picture we happened to see when we were out one day, as well as a cheap dollar store or garage sale find of a small decorative metal watering can that we had used to plant flowers in(moderately unsuccessful as I remember).
Often when painting I find that my level of excitement and appreciation of where we are at any point in the process, varies as to "where we are in the process."
As with most paintings, it takes multiple layers of paint and detail to get to the end product.
As such, my enthusiasm for any one stage depends many times on how I feel things are progressing at each layer.
Without going into a tom of detail, let's just say my feelings varied as we went along. I did find that adding a few very tiny, yet specific details at the end added much value to the result. The little white centre(with black dots) buttons of the bluish and purple flowers produced a marked difference.
Also, adding a few white trailing flowers offers the hint of something like small lobelia petals or a tiny splash of baby's breath.
What I do find is that it takes me a day or two(at the most) to genuinely appreciate the finished product. I think that is because, during the painting process, one is too fully engaged and perhaps not seeing the "forest for the trees."
Twenty-four hours away from it, frequently gives a more distinct perspective and recognition.
