| deighb Jan 7 | Seems like the moment we turned into 2024 the first major winter storm hit the Cascades with >15-18 inches of snow predicted over the weekend. The was enough to get me up Willamette Pass and over to the Central Oregon yesterday morning. It was still dark when I left town. Rain turned to snow a few miles west of Oakridge and was seriously snowing when I got to the location in this image just outside of town. I like the way the snow, trees and water interact to almost form a natural abstract. Moving up the pass the snow increased but the DOT had done a great job plowing and even though they required chains for the trucks I was good to go in my Outback. Actually pretty easy drive. I dropped down the east side to the mapdot Crescent and took the road leading to Crescent Lake. The road was almost un-tracked and certainly un-plowed but the fresh dry snow was easy to navigate. The image below is of Crescent Creek. Fresh natural snow globes doting the stream. I loved being out in the fresh snow. It was so quiet when I was shooting along this stream almost made for a meditation. Love to have your comments and as always you can click on an image for a larger screen view.
