Yesterday(Friday), I posted a bit on my apparent lack of solid time management skills and the impact, albeit minor on getting much if any acrylic painting done.
The post "Time Management and Acrylic Painting" is here, if you have 53 seconds that you have no idea what to do with.
Nevertheless, on Friday afternoon I managed to get a bit more done on the painting. As I mentioned in the post yesterday, the idea is to create an abstract fall scene using a palette or artist's knife to add texture and depth.
What we managed to finish on Friday, was the placement of the birch tree trunks and then added two layers of brushed-on white/gray paint shades. That was followed by using white paint and a palette knife to add a layer of white texture. Once that was dry, I added a layer of black highlights, also using the palette knife technique.
The next step will be adding a bright mixture of red and yellow to make an orange shade and using the palette knife to place the leaves of the trees on the canvas. Also, a variety of green shapes will be added as there are often green leaves on some trees in the fall that don't really turn colour.
The bottom right section will feature abstract grasses to represent a grassed area which is often found in forested settings.
Unfortunately, I won't be getting back to the canvas until Monday at the earliest. Lynn and I will be in Halifax for the weekend. Time management issues yet again.
