The Ukiah Police Department announced this week that two new officers recently graduated from the Police Academy in Santa Rosa.
UPD Chief Cedric Crook said that both Officer Chris Ballestrazze and Officer Ryan Michel graduated from the 212th Police Academy in Santa Rosa on Thursday, and that they will start their field training next week. He noted that both Ballestrazze and Michel hail from Sonoma County.
When asked how many officers total the department now has, Crook said the UPD is "slotted for 32 officers," and the recent hires bring the current number of sworn officers to 27. He said he plans to give a fuller update on UPD personnel later this month.

In a Facebook post, the RVCFD introduced "our newest recruits, Owen Arellano and Trevor Mockel," both of whom were described as "growing up in our community and looking forward to being volunteer firefighters."
