I was sitting in our living room early last evening, as a casserole dish of chicken lasagna was baking in the oven, and while the winds and rain were buffeting the "old homestead", I kind of thought a tiny bit of humour was needed.
I'm not sure where I actually saw this, but in a weird macabre way, there is a level(of some amount) of humour and chuckles within it.
Mostly I punched out this post as a much-needed distraction from the rain and hurricane-force winds I could hear outside our living room window.
Unfortunately, I find these types of significant weather events create a much higher and sustained level of anxiety than I care to deal with.
Many people that I know sort of "go with the flow" when these types of weather events happen.
For yours truly, when my anxiety gets ramped up in these events, the old mind immediately heads off into the worst-case scenario of what may or may not happen.
Since moving to Nova Scotia, we've been through two hurricanes(Fiona and Lee). Fiona was something I'm not wishing to go through again.
In addition, to the hurricanes, there have also been two or three significant wind and rain weather bombs, with one recent high winds and rain deal occuring just a week or so ago.
So, thus it goes from time to time.
Hopefully, the wind, rain, and storm surge potential last night were relatively minor in nature. And that folks, including myself, woke up this morning with power.
