High beautiful people, in today's video we're cooking with provisions and doing works in the garden. On the menu it's Caribbean 'ground food' like eddoes and cassava alongside boiled green banana then later on, bakes fused with a breakfast biscuit, macaroni pie and for the harvest it's all things moringa.
Provisions from the earth like sweet potato and dasheen and ones from trees like breadfruit, plantain and green banana make up something we call 'strong food' over here. They are versatile, wholesome, filling, nutritious and easy on the digestion. They're already packaged when you dig or pick them - only some washing or peeling to do to reveal the filling.
Moringa is what's now called a superfood and a tree that's full of offerings from natural vitamins in the form of seed (or nuts), nutrients in the leaf and stalk as tea or greens and water purifying qualities in the trunk and bark. The dried drumstick pods in a vase also make nice accent pieces to decorate the house. I grew the treesin the garden from seeds and they are taller than the house by a good stretch. This is the second year's harvest from them although the leaves are picked for tea and cooking all the time. Even the birds love to perch and lime on the branches to find shelter under the leaves and pods on hot sunny days. Hummingbirds zip through them and one likes to rest there in between shifts while sparkies (sparrows) and grackles (Barbados blackbirds) feast on the flowers a lot.
