This ended up being one of the most enjoyable acrylics I've done in a while. And enjoyable from a couple of perspectives.
First, who wouldn't want to go out into the country in an old red pick-up truck and deliver a Christmas tree to Grandma, who is still living on the family farm?
Sure, it's a relatively snowy and blowy evening out, but rest assured Grandma will have the wood stove fired up, so you know it won't take long to warm up beside it in the kitchen.
And with any amount of luck at all, Grandma is sure to have some leftover dinner for you(she's the best cook), or if leftovers aren't on the menu, we know she'll have a whack of Christmas baking done already. Rest assured, if nothing else she'll offer up a few tasty tidbits of Christmas cookies or squares and a steaming drink.
The second point is the painting is relatively easy to compose and very forgiving in terms of how it is ultimately layered and put together.
In addition, I think because it has a loose and very much a "folk art" vibe to it, there is just enough detail to the painting, that the "rest of it" can be filled in with the imagination of the person viewing it.
See, I imagined a scenario about going to visit Grandma on the farm.
What do you perceive or imagine beyond the painting itself?
