The Davis Musical Theatre Company has announced auditions for their production of "Mary Poppins Jr."
Set in England in 1910, young Jane and Michael Banks have sent many nannies packing before Mary Poppins shows up on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again.
"Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren't the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect," a press release from DMTC said. "Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that 'Anything Can Happen If You Let It Happen.'"
Auditions are scheduled for Monday, Jan. 8 or Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 4:30 p.m. at the Jean Henderson Performing Arts Center, located at 607 Pena Dr. in Davis. Call backs will be the following day on Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the same location.
Those interested in auditioning should bring a prepared song that is not from "Mary Poppins," sheet music with piano accompaniment and be prepared for cold readings. All roles are open and may be performed by an actor of any gender.
"Mary Poppins Jr." will open on Friday, March 9, 2024.

Set in the small, tradition-steeped town of Anatevka, Russia where Jews and Russians live in delicate balance, the beloved story follows Tevya, a poor Jewish milkman, as he faces the challenge of marrying off his five daughters in a time of extraordinary change.
"It is a story that captures the essential human longings for love, community, success, freedom, family and meaning," said a press release from the DMTC. "Fiddler features such iconic songs as the beautiful 'Sunrise, Sunset,' the boisterous 'If I Were a Rich Man,' and the classic 'Matchmaker, Matchmaker.'"
Auditions will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 2 or Wednesday, Jan. 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the Jean Henderson Performing Arts Center, located at 607 Pena Dr. in Davis. Call backs will be on Thursday, Jan. 4 at 7:30 p.m. at the same location.
