On Tuesday morning, Supervisor Angel Barajas proudly hosted an event at Tuli Mem Park in Esparto to unveil a series of transformative improvements to the park.
These enhancements were made possible through the invaluable contributions of the local community, the Board of Supervisors, County Administrator Gerardo Pinedo, and particularly the instrumental support of the General Services Director, Ryan Pistochini, and his team.
One of the most remarkable additions to the park is a series of newly installed benches along the trail, which were initiated in response to requests from the senior community. Barajas and his team listened to the seniors' concerns and recognized the importance of making the park more accommodating to all residents.
Thanks to their tireless efforts, the park now boasts comfortable and inviting benches along the trail, providing a resting place for seniors and all park visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of Tuli Mem Park.
The Oct. 17 event was attended by Chairman of the Board of Supervisors Oscar Villegas, Supervisors Lucas Frerichs and Jim Provenza, numerous community members, representatives of RISE Inc., Esparto School District, seniors, and families.
Many seniors expressed their gratitude for the new additions, noting how they enhance the overall park experience. The installation of benches has transformed Tuli Mem Park into a more welcoming and inclusive space, ensuring that people of all ages can fully enjoy the beauty of nature in Esparto.
"I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved at Tuli Mem Park," Barajas commented at the event. "These improvements exemplify the strength of our community, the commitment of our dedicated County Supervisors and staff, and the power of working together to create a space that welcomes and accommodates everyone. The addition of benches to the trail is just one step in our ongoing journey to enhance our parks and make them more accessible to all residents."
County Supervisors and Liz Steiner, representing the RISE senior group, also spoke at the event, emphasizing the importance of community-driven initiatives and the significance of working together to make a difference.
The enhancements this year to Tuli Mem are a large shade structure over the picnic tables, a new ice machine, four park benches, and an improved irrigation system for the fields. These accomplishments are a testament to the power of community collaboration and the vision of Supervisor Barajas and his Board colleagues. The event marked a significant milestone in the park's history, bringing together residents to celebrate the results of their hard work and dedication.
