A pretty heady, however exceedingly "stating the obvious" level of title for a blog post.
And in all honesty, I'm not entirely sure where the premise or genesis for the post comes from.
Part of it I'm certain comes from Lynn being back in Ontario(over three weeks at this point) and feeling often "lost in what to do." As such, and having that "lost" feeling, I frequently do or accomplish nothing during any particular day. Regrettably, any one day starts to morph itself into a cycle of several days, accompanied by more intense feelings of "being lost" and the cycle continues.
Yesterday, I posted a piece called, "The Last Quarter" which dealt with what happens when we get to the final quarter of the year and we either haven't met or on the other hand have met those yearly goals and lists we had prepared for ourselves. In it, I suggested, if we've not met the goals and lists we may have with all good intentions dreamed up ten months ago, that now would be a good time to regroup and see what could be achieved over the next couple of months before the end of the year.
In other words, in order to do something you need to do something.
That's more or less where we are this morning. I need to do something or more than one thing in order to get out of this roundabout or spiral of feeling lost.
Part of my own problem and I'm sure others as well, is I often look to the end of something, or the big picture if you will, and go - "well, that's too big of a project - never be able to accomplish that!"
All the while forgetting that getting to the end or accomplishing the "big picture" is often simply a series of tiny steps or "wins."
And to me, a series of tiny and winnable "wins" that can be easily checked off a list is a doable and perfect place to begin the process of feeling less lost.
So, today's winnable "wins" will be nothing more than an "old school paper list" of items that I can easily do and easily get accomplished.
It may not seem like much, but from where I'm sitting it will be a good, if not a great step.
