| Hikingmommy Oct 20 | Leighton's homeschool enrichment program had their Homecoming a few weeks ago. Initially he didn't want to go at all but after taking with him and his friend on a carpool right home they came up with a good plan. He and his friend sent out invitations to everyone they knew to invite them to the park beforehand for a picnic and to play. The best part was that they had no idea how many kids were actually going to show up which put us moms in a bit of a bind trying to figure out if we had enough rides to get them all to the dance. It all worked out with 15-20 kids making it and they had fun at the park. Corn Hole and frisbees were available and they also all played on the playground equipment. It started to rain just as we were loading everyone up to get to the dance. I actually went as a chaperone and I think he was only a little embarrassed by that but that's what moms are for. There were probably 100 kids or so there and there was a wide range of music with the final song being YMCA which I'm pretty sure was also the final song of my homecoming way back when. On the way home he said "that was actually fun and went way better than I thought". | | | |
