Many of the toxic chermicals produced by modern processes are long-lasting. So when we pretend we are disposing of them, we are trying to hide, or bury or capture them...but ther chemicals linger on. One, dioxin, may be the moist lethal chemical we have learned to make. Further, many of these chemicals do not remain as solids or liquids, they give off vapors that can equally toxic.
USA Today just published a detailed description of what bis known and what is hidden about two totally legal toxic sites near Detroit. That's a city where ,many people still live. Click here for the Michigan toxic dump description.
There are other such dumps spread around the country--though Oregon doesn't have one. One in Washington, one in Idaho, one in Nevada, three in California.
"Hazardous waste" 'er deadly dumping? Cancer catastrophe? Waste into water table? Global; warming will NOT destroy these chemicals, nor deradiate our nuclear waste...but that's a whole other landfallacy.
