Killer clowns, scary children and a haunted forest will strike fear into visitors of all ages at a Vallejo haunted house this month.
Kottage Fright Night at 250 Georgia St. promises a voyage of fear and fun for all of October. The local nonprofit Kottage Kore Kitchen will be running the haunted house 3 p.m.-9 p.m. Fridays, 12 p.m.-9 p.m. Saturdays and 12 p.m.-7 p.m. Sundays.
"Everyone loves Halloween here, so we wanted to bring something new to the city, a little different, a little rough around the edges," said Natalia Howell, the nonprofit's owner.
General admission tickets are $10, and wristbands providing unlimited tours and other perks will be $20. An obstacle course, food vendors, music and other activities will offer "spine-chilling" entertainment outside the otherworldly walkthrough, which will admit visitors in groups of four to five.
Howell, a self-described "vampire fan" who likes watching scary movies in the dark, said she hopes the event will remind people of how much good Vallejo has to offer.
"It's actually an emotional thing for us, because we've been going through so much, just trying to bring something to the city," said Howell, who handmade some of the haunted house's decorations herself. This is the first time her group has hosted an event like this.
Vallejo's most popular haunted house, NightMARE Island, will not be open this year.
