This is the final piece of our armor. We cannot neglect prayer.
Ephesians 6:18 AMP
18 With all prayer and petition pray [with specific requests] at all times [on every occasion and in every season] in the Spirit, and with this in view, stay alert with all perseverance and petition [interceding in prayer] for all God's people.
Prayer and petition is something a lot of us neglect. We don't think it is part of the armor, but it is the most important part. Why would I say that? If you neglect prayer, that is the coating on that armor. It holds everything in place where it needs to be. For instance, when you do a nice picture on a piece of wood, you would cover it with shellac or something like that to preserve it.
Here the focus is now off of us and onto others. We need to praying for our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ who are facing difficulties, just like we are. We may not know the need, but we don't need to know the need. God knows, and that's all that matters. There have been times I have been nudged to begin praying. I may not even know who it is for, but God does. He knows who needs to be prayer for and when and who will get right to it when they are being nudged. Sometimes he calls multiple people to pray the same thing at the same time.
Another aspect of prayer is corporate prayer. I am not talking about a church service of prayer. I am talking about a group of you who meet together on a regular schedule to pray. I am part of a group like that with only four of us. Mighty things have happened through that prayer time. Many answers to pray have resulted. This is the highlight of my week.
Self Examination
Today is a good day to begin in prayer for your fellow believers in Christ. If you are not doing so, become part of a small prayer group. If there is none around you, find a few others who are interested in it and start one. You will not be sorry.
