The chimney cleaning went great this year at my house. Took about an hour to clean and cleanup so I think the job went fast compared to the first cleaning I did last year. I noticed my door gasket is loose in a spot so it is time to replace the gasket. I can order the gasket kit from Home depot with the gasket rope and cement to attach the gasket to the door for $35.00. Lucky for me I watched several youtube vids on how to replace the gasket when Mom had her woodstove gasket replaced. I think it has been around 10 years since I bought the stove so I got plenty of use out of the original gasket and this replacement is just part of maintaining a woodstove.
I am going to clean Mom's stove this week. Doing my stove first, helps me to set up my cleaning kit so I don't forget anything when I get to Mom's house. I have set up a little plumbing tool bag as I want to use a high pressure drain clean tool to give Mom's pipes a good blow out. She had a problem with her washer backing up onto the bathroom floor and had to replace the sub floor. I noticed while I was changing out the kitchen sink drain pipes they were still gunky although the pipes did drain. The drain king should finish cleaning out the pipes so she won't have anymore backups/clogs.
I set up the new Wavelink wireless router and I really liked how easy the set up was but I need to add in a few more security protocols. Just changing the default password is not enough security to be safe. One feature of the Wavelink I like is it has a switch to turn it on and off rather than having to unplug the wi-fi router ant the power strip. I don't need an always on wi-fi router so being able to turn it on and off is a nice feature for me.
I got an Arris surfboard 3.1 docsis cable modem for about $90.00 and the Wavelink wireless router for $40.00 from newegg.com. I noticed a new wireless router on sale at newegg.com for about $40.00. I don't know if it is a thing, but paying for an upgraded modem and a wireless router is a lot cheaper than paying for an all in one wireless modem that cost $200.00 plus.
I think the next big thing will be rising beef costs. The local grocery store has Chuck at $6.00 per pound. Good news chicken meat and egg prices are coming down. Energy costs for electricity and gas are going up. It does not look like those prices will be dropping any time soon. I would not be surprised to see a stock market crash in October/November time frame. How that will shake out is beyond me. If you have what you need to survive long term it really does not matter to you what the stock market does daily or long term.
It looks like I killed the bad bugs in my yard. I still have some nasty weeds to spry and start building more healthy soil in the front yard. the work never ends as the more you learn and do the more work you have to do. Hell if it was easy any/everyone would do it.
