In an hour or two, I'll be on the road to the big city.
Well, the biggest city in the province - Halifax.
I'm looking forward to today for a variety of reasons. Most of them are selfish in a way.
First, I sort of need a mental health break. Not a big mental health break, but a simple day-long excursion that is for yours truly.
Second, the Halifax waterfront is one of my favorite places to walk and people-watch. Lynn and I are big - I mean huge people-watching folks. Weekends can be especially busy and if there are cruise ships visiting, that takes "a busy waterfront" to a whole new level.
Next would be things to see and do - museums and art galleries. It is always neat to visit any of the variety of museums in the downtown area, especially the "Marine Museum of The Atlantic." If you have any interest at all in either the "Titanic" or the "Halifax Explosion", this is the museum for you. In addition, one can never go wrong with a visit to the "Art Gallery of Nova Scotia."
A trip to the waterfront in Halifax on a Saturday must include a walk through the "Seaport Farmers Market" located surprisingly in the Seaport Terminal. One never knows what delicacies await if you just go searching for them.
Lastly, I think a visit to our daughter's restaurant sometime after 5:00 p.m. would be in order. And with any luck, I may be able to score a free or discounted meal.
A full day for sure.
And as a bonus, sunny and decent enough temperatures are going to amp up the fun and enjoyment considerably.
However, I'd best stop poking away at the keyboard and think about getting ready to hit the road.
In my mind, every once in a while, perhaps a little "selfishness/self-care" is just what the doctor ordered.
Be kind and do something for just you.
You deserve it.
--as always with love--
