More like backpacking with bikes, but we headed to the lake to try out our first overnight bike trip.
Despite a lack of gear to properly attach our camp gear to our bike, we still decided to give it our best shot... and ended up, surprisingly, loving it! We choose to only take one beer each, in hopes of finding our own perfect time to enjoy it during the 3-day adventure. Thanks to Squatters and Wasatch Brewery for sponsoring this video and for having the best lakeside-sipping IPA out there. Beer featured: Squatters Juicy IPA and Wasatch Salt Lime Cereveza.
We started with a perfect cross country trail that bordered a reservoir, which mostly had nice mellow ups and downs, but was still just challenging enough with the large packs. The mileage to get out to our camp spot was about 6 miles, and it was truly impressive to see how quickly we would cover ground while on our bicycles.
The bike out was an adventure in itself, but then we spent the next two nights enjoying the lakeside (reservoir-side??) camp life, fishing off shore, and doing a whole lot of relaxing, reading, crocheting, and campfire chillin'. We even got an exciting storm just to spice up the mix.
We might just have to find another excuse to bike pack, because this was the perfect amount of type-2 fun mixed with a pleasant vacation.
Thanks for our friend Becky, Bo, and Driggs for braving the adventure with us, and shoutout to Nic for editing this one. Hope you enjoy!
