For yours truly, I often find that the creative arts(painting in this case) often end up traveling along a bumpy road towards the hamlet of "non-creative inspiration and living." That is where I surprisingly or not so surprisingly woke up one day and unfortunately, lingered amongst the "lack of inspiration" dwellings for far too long.
However, on a positive note, over the past couple of weeks, we've started the car and moved on "so to speak."
I have written about this before and even Lynn has echoed it to others, that I tend to be "my own worst enemy/critic" when it comes to my own finished pieces. And something tells me, that this is not unheard of when talking about art and those who create it in general. It is that "own worst enemy" vibe that far too many times, curtails the flow of the creative inspiration and motivation.
On the other side of the coin(I think it's the other side), actually taking one small step towards creating a new piece, is often enough to open the dam to let the creative river flow again. That's more or less the approach I've been utilizing over the past week. And it seems to be working.
A good thing.
I just completed this acrylic, which I'm calling "A Nova Scotia Seascape."
This isn't one specific location in particular. A scene like this can be found just about anywhere in the province for the most part.
In retrospect, there are one or two things I might do differently with the slope from the top of the hill/cliff to the beach area, but overall I'm pleased with the result.
It really did feel like a win or a successful re-entry back to paint on canvas.
