Our World
We are yet again reminded that our world is rapidly warming, this time by the severe heat wave in the South and the wildfires in Canada. The time to act is now to stop the polluting of our atmosphere with carbon dioxide from our continued burning of fossil fuels.
With the passing of last year's Inflation Reduction Act there are incentives that make clean energy sources cheaper than burning fossil fuels. The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) is tasked with regulating utilities and ensuring that ratepayers have affordable, safe and clean energy.
I ask that the members of the CPUC show bold leadership and rapidly transition all California utilities from burning carbon polluting fossil fuels to producing our electricity from clean sources of energy such as solar, wind and using energy storage. Please, for the sake of our grandchildren and all future generations, make this transition your top priority.

Accusations of fund misappropriation are false
I write to you today as the co-founder of Sunrise Special Services Foundation, a steadfast organization committed to serving and uplifting the most vulnerable populations in Lake County for over 25 years. As Sunrise takes on the important task of leading our community towards integrated services for those experiencing homelessness; it is crucial that we continue building a foundation of transparency, integrity, and a focus on our shared mission.
First and foremost, I want to emphasize that Sunrise is dedicated to continuous improvement. We recognize the importance of refining our systems and services to better meet the needs of those we serve. While recent events may have created division in the public eye, I assure you that Sunrise remains in full compliance and good standing with the State of California and the County of Lake. We adhere to the professional processes set forth by the Lake County Continuum of Care and Board of Supervisors, which prioritizes oversight and transparency. It is unfortunate that slanderous comments have been made though the media and a recent Board meeting. Accusations of fund misappropriation by Sunrise are false, misguided, and ignorant of the facts. Financial statements for the Sunrise Warming Shelter have been audited and they're public. Questions and concerns have been addressed.
Since the opening of the Sunrise Warming Shelter last February, we have welcomed and valued public input and discussions. We are committed to an open dialogue, as we believe that the collective wisdom and engagement of our community members are essential in creating positive change. At the heart of our organization is a genuine desire to assist those in need. Every decision we make is rooted in the best interests of all Lake County citizens. As we embark on a new chapter, I am thrilled to introduce our new Chief Executive Officer, Rayan Aava, PsyD and Chief of Operations, Chris Bloodworth, II. With their leadership, Sunrise is poised to enter a new era of professionalism, compassion, and community collaboration.
We are excited about the future of Lake County and the opportunities that lie ahead. Together, we can build a stronger, more inclusive community where everyone has access to the support and resources they need to thrive. Let us move forward with unity, understanding, and a shared commitment to making a lasting impact. Thank you for your unwavering support.
